Drafting Cooper Beebe Was the Best Decision Dallas Made This Offseason

When the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft came around and Kansas State IOL Cooper Beebe was still available, it was clear that somebody was going to get one of the biggest steals of the draft.

Nine picks into the round, the Dallas Cowboys pulled the trigger, drafting the consensus All-American guard out of Manhattan (KS). After playing in 51 career games, 48 of which he started in, the tape tells the story on Beebe.

Beebe was a two-time Big 12 Offensive Lineman of the Year and allowed just five sacks on 1,488 pass-blocking snaps in his career — four of which were in his redshirt freshman season and just one sack allowed in his final 42 career games.

PFF recently noted just how great a pick Beebe was for the Cowboys in their list of best offseason decisions for every NFC team.

There have been several notable losses for the Cowboys, as they’ve said goodbye to running back Tony Pollard, All-Pro offensive tackle Tyron Smith, and defensive coordinator Dan Quinn. Although it has been a tough offseason for Dallas, the addition of Beebe has been the bright spot.

“The Cowboys didn’t seem to get better this offseason,” PFF’s Trevor Sikkema writes. “Their playoff loss was a disappointment, and they didn’t do much to make outsiders think that 2024 will be different…

“However, I did like their draft and their selection of Cooper Beebe, one of the most experienced offensive linemen in the class. He can potentially start on the interior and help make up for the loss of Tyron Smith.”

There’s a good chance that Beebe works into a starting role immediately, and at 6-foot-3, 322 pounds, he’s got the tools to be the next great road grater in the NFC.
