There are a lot of problems with the Phoenix Suns and the 2023–24 season made that very clear.

Even with all their talent, the team was still swept out of the first round of the playoffs.

It’s hard to focus on the one single issue that is holding the team back but Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green listed one of the things that is hurting them.

According to NBACentral, Green said, “The Suns have no big man…KD is the Suns’ big man. They got no big man.”

This is a very interesting comment, especially coming from Green.

He knows a thing or two about big men in the NBA, considering he is one of the most celebrated ones.

But Green’s statement is very fascinating considering the Suns actually do have a big man: Jusuf Nurkic.

Of course, all NBA fans remember that Green hit Nurkic in the side of the head a few months ago, leading to his lengthy suspension from the league.

Following that incident, Nurkic made several public comments that were very critical of Green and he most certainly heard them all.

Nurkic is the team’s starting big man, averaging 10.9 points and 11 rebounds in 76 games this season.

Meanwhile, Green posted 8.6 points and 7.2 rebounds during his 55 games in 2023–24.

It’s hard to tell if Green’s words are his honest opinion or a knock against Nurkic.

But there is no doubt that the Suns star is the team’s chosen big man and that the problems with Phoenix go far beyond him.

In fact, most people would say that the Suns’ lack of a true point guard is what slows them down the most.

No matter what is holding the Suns back, they definitely need to address it this summer.
