DRS August 19: Champions Trophy prep forces PCB to shift PAK vs BAN venue & Lyon eyes revenge vs Team India

The preparation for the ICC Champions Trophy is in full swing in Pakistan. It is so much so that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was forced to shift the originally scheduled venue of Karachi to Rawalpindi to host the second Test match against Bangladesh. Champions Trophy effect!

The second Pakistan-Bangladesh Test has been shifted from Karachi to Rawalpindi due to stadium renovations for the 2025 Champions Trophy. Construction work at the Karachi venue would disrupt the match, forcing the PCB to change plans. Both Tests will now be played in Rawalpindi.

Nathan Lyon vs Team India

Australian spinner Nathan Lyon has declared a desire to defeat India in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Calling it a decade-long grudge, Lyon emphasized Australia’s aim to reclaim the series. He praised India’s strength but vowed to overturn the recent dominance, where India have won the BGTs Down under last two times. The five-match Test series begins November 22.

The Gabba will host its 49th Ashes Test in 2025-26, but its future is uncertain. Plans for the 2032 Olympics threaten the iconic ground’s existence.
