The ECHL’s Utah Grizzlies are really fishing for compliments with their newest theme night jerseys.
The Grizzlies — who play out of the Maverik Center in West Valley City, Utah — unveiled their jerseys for their first-ever Fishing Night on their website and social media channels on Wednesday, February 5. They’ll wear them on the ice on Saturday, February 15, when they try to reel in a win, fittingly against the Idaho Steelheads.
The sublimated print that covers the jersey mimics a fisherman wearing a green and white plaid shirt — the Grizzlies’ usual colours — under a khaki cargo vest. Near the waist, the print transitions into olive green waders.
The khaki cargo vest is open at the front, but covers the entire back. The numbers on the sleeves and back are white with dark green outlines, while the name on the back is one-color green.
The right shoulder of the vest has the Grizzlies’ primary logo, while the left shoulder has a secondary logo. The pockets on the front have various hooks and lures hanging out of them.
Photos posted by the Grizzlies on Wednesday only showed the jerseys, giving no indication of what the pants, socks, gloves or helmet that would be worn with them would look like. (Personally, though, I’m hoping they go all in and continue the waders from the waist down, like the Iowa Heartlanders did for Crispy Bacon Night earlier this season.)
If you’re angling for one of the Fishing Night jerseys, game-worn sweaters will be auctioned off online through DASH.
Unfortunately, the Grizzlies haven’t released many other details on the festivities for Fishing Night. Puck drop against the Steelheads is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. MT on Saturday, February 15.
