The Edmonton Oilers are the latest NHL team to stick an advertisement on their jersey.
Today, the Oilers revealed they’d be wearing Play Alberta’s logo on their home blue sweaters beginning with the 2024-25 season. The announcement came just hours after the Washington Capitals struck a deal with TikTok for their road white sweaters.
The logo shows Play Alberta’s stylized star design with the company name below. It is shown entirely in white but on a royal blue backing, which is also visible when placed on the jersey. Edmonton also announced they’d wear GameSense’s logo on their home helmets. GameSense is the responsible gaming program run by Alberta Gaming, Liquor, and Cannabis (AGLC).
“We are proud to call Play Alberta the official sportsbook of the Edmonton Oilers,” said Stew MacDonald, President & Chief Revenue Officer of OEG Sports & Entertainment, in the press release. “With the revenue generated by Play Alberta going to valued services and programs that help enrich the lives of Albertans, donning the Play Alberta logo on our iconic home jersey is a testament to our long-term commitment to communities across Oil Country.”
Play Alberta is a government-run iGaming company that uses income generated through the site to support the General Revenue Fund, which supports everyday programs and services in Alberta.
