Elite offensive lineman SJ Alofaituli commits to Miami

It’s officially Hurricane season.

Miami continued its torrid hot streak Friday, landing yet another pivotal commitment when elite offensive lineman Seuseu Alofaituli put on the green and orange hat. The Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman standout revealed his choice on the 247Sports YouTube channel, becoming the third top 100-ranked player to join the star-studded class this week. Here is everything you need to know about the latest addition for Miami:

WHAT SJ ALOFAITULI SAYS ABOUT MIAMI

“I’ve had a great connection with Miami and with the coaches there for a while, and just have felt really comfortable with them as coaches and as people,” Alofaituli told 247Sports. “Coach Alex Mirabal actually offered me way back in my freshman year when they were still at Oregon and he’s maintained that relationship with me. He hasn’t eased up or calmed down; he’s always showed support and I’ve felt a really good vibe with them.

“It’s the culture and people over there. It’s the people in the facility; it’s something truly special they’re building down there. Development is big with them and it’s something I wanted to be involved in. I am really excited to get down there and work.”

WHO ELSE WAS IN THE MIX?

Michigan and Nebraska also had hats on the table and drew official visits during the month of June. Yet it was Miami that built up an early lead in the battle and never relented, drawing the final official visit on the last weekend prior to the current recruiting dead period. The likes of Oregon and Texas A&M were also involved, making an impression on the talented 6-foot-3, 280-pound blocker on unofficials this off-season.

The Hurricanes had all six forecasts in the 247Sports Crystal Ball in their favor at the time of the announcement.

WHERE SJ ALOFAITULI RANKS AS A RECRUIT

Alofaituli is the nation’s No. 55 overall prospect, No. 2 among interior offensive linemen and No. 2 in the state of Nevada for the 2025 class, per the 247Sports rankings. He sits atop the position rankings among offensive linemen out West.

HOW SJ ALOFAITULI FITS WITH MIAMI

Alofaituli has the versatility to fill any of the interior offensive line spots but might project best as a center long term. He is a nasty road-grader with a mean streak, an effective initial punch and the refined technique that should make him a candidate to contribute from the moment he steps foot in Coral Gables.

In the class itself, Alofaituli is now one of the headliners of a group that continues to ascend in the national standings. Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy linebacker Gavin Nix and Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin athlete Hylton Stubbs were the two other blue-chippers to announce for the Hurricanes to kick off the month of July.

WHAT WE THINK ABOUT SJ ALOFAITULI

247Sports national recruiting analyst Greg Biggins was able to see Alofaituli up close during the showcase circuit earlier this off-season and came away thoroughly impressed.

“Alofaituli may not have the biggest frame but makes up for it with his strength, feet, balance, physicality and high level football IQ,” Biggins wrote in the scouting report. “He understands leverage and how to play the position at a college level right now. He’s quick off the ball, moves extremely well laterally and can easily get to the second level and make a block on a linebacker or safety. He’s devastating at the point of attack and mauls opposing linemen in the run game.”
