Former Kansas State Forward Arthur Kaluma Commits to Texas

After playing the 2023-24 season with the Kansas State Wildcats, transfer forward Arthur Kaluma committed to play for the Texas Longhorns on Thursday.

Kaluma chose the Longhorns over SMU and will have a significant role for head coach Rodney Terry’s team that lost Dillon Mitchell to Cincinnati and Dylan Disu who ran out of eligibility.

The 6-foot-7 forward finished third on the team in scoring with 14.4 points per game, and first in rebounding with 7.0.

The newest Longhorn was efficient from the floor, shooting 42.7% from the field, 34.5% from three, and 74.7% from the foul linem and is a solid rim protector, as he swatted away two blocks in four games last season.

Kaluma played his first two seasons with Creighton before scoring 20 or more points in six games for the Wildcats last season, and reached his season-high 28 points in a win over BYU on Feb. 24.

Texas went 21-13 in its last season competing in the Big 12, as the program is set to play in the SEC in 2024-25, whereas Kansas State finished 19-15.

Terry has been very active in the transfer portal this offseason with the additions of Malik Presley (Vanderbilt), Julian Larry (Indiana State), Julian Larry (Indiana State), Jordan Pope (Oregon State), and Tramon Mark (Arkansas).
