Fritz Defeats Zverev to Reach 2024 Turin Final

Two-time former winner Alexander Zverev was made to work on Saturday at the ATP Finals in Turin, Italy, losing to US Open finalist Taylor Fritz 6-3, 3-6, 7-6(3).

Overcoming the loss of the second set, Fritz raced back to take a 4-1 lead in the final set tiebreaker and never looked back.

Striking 15 aces, 31 winners, and breaking serve on one occasion, Fritz needed two hours and 22 minutes to seal his victory.

Stretching his head-to-head with Zverev to 7-5, Fritz will now await the winner of tonight’s match featuring top seed Jannik Sinner vs. No. 6 seed Casper Ruud. Fritz has now won four-straight matches against Zverev.

Fritz trails Sinner 1-3 in career matches and Ruud 1-2 in career encounters. The American has won two titles on the year.

Fritz will next see action at Davis Cup Finals in Malaga, Spain. He will lead an impressive team that also includes Tommy Paul, Ben Shelton, Austin Krajicek and Rajeev Ram.

Tennis legend Rafael Nadal will also be making his final appearance as a professional player next week in Spain. The Spaniard will be joined by four-time Major winner Carlos Alcaraz. Nadal and Alcaraz will face the Netherlands on Tuesday.
