Garrett Wilson can’t be stopped during Jets’ practice with Commanders

Observations from the Jets training camp practice on Thursday.

Catching fire

WR Garrett Wilson was on fire during the joint practice with the Commanders. Wilson had several impressive catches, including one where he slid across the wet grass.

His best play was a 55-yard touchdown pass from Tyrod Taylor where he got behind the Washington defense.

Drop off

Rookie WR Malachi Corley had a drop at the goal line on a pass from QB Andrew Peasley.

Corley had some other catches on the day, but that drop would have been costly in a game.

Caught my eye

The starting offensive line was together for the first team period Thursday, and they opened up a hole for Breece Hall to run through for an 18-yard touchdown.

Tackles Tyron Smith and Morgan Moses came out after the first team period, but the starting unit should get more and more practice time together as camp goes on.

Rodgers report

The Jets gave Aaron Rodgers the day off.

Robert Saleh was concerned about Rodgers practicing in the wet weather.

Rodgers won’t play in Saturday’s preseason game but is expected to practice Monday.

Injury report

DE Takk McKinley (foot) returned to practice.

WR Mike Williams (knee) practiced for the first time in training camp after being removed from the PUP list.

Williams only did individual drills.
