Giants GM Says He Has ‘No Regrets’ On How Things Ended With Saquon Barkley

The New York Giants will no longer have their workhorse running back out there.

Saquon Barkley left and signed a very lucrative three-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles, going from friend to foe by signing with a divisional rival.

Barkley has been quite open about his discomfort with the way the Giants organization dealt with his contract situation, recently calling it a ‘slap in the face.’

However, as much as some fans and analysts have called him out for it, GM Joe Schoen claimed that he had no regrets about the way things ended.

Talking to Kay Adams for her Up & Adams Show, the Giants GM stated that people seem to forget that negotiations with Barkley dated all the way back to November 2022, so it’s not like he rushed to make any decision.

The young executive stated that both parties tried to get a deal done and, unfortunately, they weren’t able to find any sort of middle ground, so they have nothing but the best wishes for him in the next endeavor of his career.

At the end of the day, a GM has to make some difficult decisions, and the Giants needed to address several positions at the time.

On paper, this looks like a big mistake by the front office, and this decision could come back to haunt them for years to come.

But until that happens — or not — we won’t be able to truly judge who were the winners and losers of this transaction.
