A major NBA rumor suggests the Houston Rockets already have their sights set on one specific superstar to add to the roster this summer.
The 2024-25 NBA season has confirmed that the Rockets rebuild is complete. After trading top star James Harden during the 2020-21 season, Houston has undergone a top to bottom renovation of their roster. In the two and a half seasons since the club has suffered through some very rough years. However, the hiring of head coach Ime Udoka has played a significant role in super charging their turnaround.

In his first season overseeing the team, they won nearly 20 more games than they did the year before and almost reached the play-in tournament. This season, they took another huge step forward and now have a top five record in a tough Western Conference. As well as a legit All-Star in Aleperen Sengun. Along with a slew of other young and talented players.
In the weeks before February’s trade deadline, there were rumblings the Rockets could make a move to add that game-changing star to boost their chances in the playoffs. However, the organization made it clear they wanted to play out the season before making any significant changes to their current group.
Well, a new rumor suggests the team has a specific player in mind they will target this summer.
Houston Rockets plan to target Devin Booker trade this summer?

“The on-court results are one thing, and we all know how much they’ve struggled. But now I feel it is really opening the door for anything and everything being possible in Phoenix,” The Athletic NBA insider Sam Amick said on “Run it Back” Monday. “And for some of the other teams around the league that is pretty exciting. Because we know that the Houston’s of the world have been looking at Devin Booker.”
The Houston Rockets were linked to a potential Jimmy Butler trade during the season. But Devin Booker would seem like a far better fit at just 28 years old, and with this young team. The Phoenix Suns have been a huge disappointment in 2024-25. And if the season ended today, they would not make the NBA Play-In tournament.
- Devin Booker stats (2024-25): 26.0 PPG, 4.0 RPG, 6.9 APG, 1.1 SPG, 35% 3 PT
While the Suns would prefer to hold on to their homegrown star, as Amick mentioned, anything seems possible and this group very much needs to be blown up this summer.
