Jerome Tang Thinks Kansas State Can Be a Top 10 Team in 2024-25

NCAA Basketball: NCAA Tournament East Regional Practice

After missing the 2024 NCAA Tournament, Head Coach Jerome Tang believes that the Kansas State Wildcats can become a top 10 team in the country next season.

K-State finished with a 19-15 record, with its season coming to an end in a loss during the first round of the NIT to the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Even with the additions of Arizona, Colorado, Utah, and Arizona State to the Big 12, Tang is certain that his crew can make serious noise this upcoming season.

“We want to compete for a national championship, and I think we have a great group that starts that, just not a lot of margin for error,” Tang said during an on-campus event on Monday, via The Wichita Eagle. “The goal is to add to that so we can have a margin for error and be one of the 10 best teams in the country.”

Tang made serious changes to his roster this season after several players either graduated, transferred, or turned pro. In the portal, he brought in Dug McDaniel (Michigan), Achor Achor (Samford), Brendan Hausen (Villanova), Baye Fall (Arkansas), Max Jones (Cal State Fullerton) and CJ Jones (UIC).

Tang is no stranger to success as he led Kansas State to the Elite 8 back in the 2022-23 season, led by current Toronto Raptors guard Marquis Nowell and Oklahoma City Thunder forward Keyontae Johnson.
