Two Super Bowl veteran quarterbacks are meeting in Week 1 of the NFL season.
On Monday, Sept. 9, Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets will face off against Brock Purdy and his 2024 NFC Champion San Francisco 49ers at Santa Clara’s Levi’s Stadium.
The two teams couldn’t have had more different seasons last year; after generating a lot of buzz in the 2023 offseason following the signing of Rodgers, the 40-year-old superstar went down on the fourth play of the season with an Achilles injury. Still, Robert Saleh’s Jets scrapped and ended up finishing the year with a respectable 7-10 record.
As for the Niners, they won the NFC West and then squeaked past the Packers and Lions to advance to the Super Bowl in Las Vegas. They ended up losing in overtime to the Kansas City Chiefs in overtime.
Now, both teams will start 2024 with a clean slate.
