Kansas State Lands Top-Ranked Player in Program History, Five-Star TE Linkon Cure

Chris Klieman and the Kansas State Wildcats finished off a massive recruiting win on Monday with the addition of five-star tight end Linkon Cure.

Cure, a 6-foot-6 pass catcher from Goodland, Kansas, chose the Wildcats over offers from Oregon, Texas A&M, and Kansas.

Coming out of Goodland High School in the Class of 2025, Cure is listed as a five-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 26th-ranked player. He also checks in as the second-ranked player at his position and the second-ranked player in the state of Kansas.

Heading into Monday’s commitment date, the Wildcats picked up a total of 13 different crystal ball predictions from recruiting experts around the country to land the Goodland native.

“It was a feeling that I got,” Cure told On3’s Chad Simmons. “That Saturday night, I didn’t sleep at all. First, I texted Taylor Braet. I had to call him to wake him up, so I called him at 7:00 in the morning and said, ‘Hey, can you come pick me up at the hotel and take me to the stadium? I just need some time to think.’ He said, ‘Yeah, I’ll be right there.’ So, he took me to the stadium, and I went up into Section 227 and either seat 17 or 18. I sat down, and that’s when I was making sure it was the right decision.

The dynamic pass catcher officially visited Kansas State on June 21st, which helped the program seal the deal to land the program’s highest-rated recruit. Cure spent time golfing, fishing, participating in photoshoots, and more with quarterback Avery Johnson, running back Dylan Edwards, head coach Chris Klieman, co-offensive coordinator Matt Wells, and many others in the Kansas State community.

“I let a lot of tears out, unfortunately,” Cure continued. “It was pretty emotional for me because I started my whole process at a camp at K-State and then, that’s where it all was ending. It was definitely really emotional for me, and that’s what it all came down to. I knew it was right. Coach Klieman also came up there and had a conversation with me, which was really cool. We got some alone time in the stadium, so I absolutely loved everything about that.”

With his commitment, Cure became the Wildcats’ top-ranked addition in the 2025 recruiting class and will join a group headlined by four-star IOL Brock Heath, three-star OL Will Kemna, and three-star QB Dillon Duff.
