On Thursday, the Philadelphia Eagles strengthened what was already a very strong roster by trading three 2025 draft picks to the Washington Commanders for wide receiver Jahan Dotson.

While Dotson isn’t a star, he should give the Eagles something they did arguably need: a No. 3 threat at wide receiver.

On the other side, Kliff Kingsbury, the new offensive coordinator of the Commanders, said he wishes Dotson well, and he also added that he likes his team’s current wide receiver situation, per JP Finlay.

The Commanders took Dotson with the No. 16 pick in the 2022 draft after a strong tenure at Pennsylvania State University, and in two years with them, he caught 84 passes for 1,041 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Now he will go from a rebuilding team to having at least an outside shot at winning a Super Bowl championship.

Right now, Washington has some tangible hope for the future thanks to rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, the No. 2 pick in April’s draft who was named their starter earlier this week.

They have an established and reliable threat at WR in Terry McLaurin, and they’re hoping that young prospects such as rookie Luke McCaffrey will develop into additional threats.

McCaffrey is the younger brother of San Francisco 49ers star running back Christian McCaffrey, and while at Rice University in Texas, he had 71 catches for 992 yards and 13 touchdowns last season.

Washington also signed veteran dual-threat running back Austin Ekeler, formerly of the Los Angeles Chargers, and they’re hoping he still has enough left in his tank at age 29.
