Over the last few months, there has been much speculation about the immediate future of former University of Southern California star Bronny James, with conflicting reports on his evaluation by teams ahead of the 2024 NBA Draft.
One thing that has made Bronny James’ journey to the NBA so intriguing is that his father, LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers, has made it well known that he intends to play with his son on the professional level.
With LeBron James able to opt out of his contract with the Lakers this summer and become an unrestricted free agent, Bronny James’ draft stock has risen, with some believing it could be a package deal if they draft the 19-year-old that his 40-year-old father will follow him.
Apparently, that is no longer the case, as Klutch Sports agent Rich Paul made it clear that LeBron James is no longer entertaining that idea, which changes things for teams that might have been thinking that way about this situation this summer, according to Jonathan Givony of ESPN.
“LeBron is off this idea of having to play with Bronny,” Paul told ESPN. “If he does, he does. But if he doesn’t, he doesn’t.”
Although LeBron James isn’t forcing the issue anymore, it seems as though he’ll likely be playing alongside his son next season regardless, with the Lakers being the favorite to select him in the upcoming 2024 NBA Draft.
However, Bronny James also had a pre-draft workout with the Phoenix Suns and has received interest from other teams around the league, so it remains to be seen if this father-son duo will come to fruition in the NBA.
