COTABATO CITY — Police authorities in Maguindanao del Norte confiscated on Sunday afternoon P5 million worth of smuggled cigarettes along the national hgihway in Datu Odin Sinsuat town.
In his report, Lt. Colonel Samuel Roy Subsuban, Datu Odin Sinsuat municipal police station chief, said the confiscated contraband was transported from Lebak, Sultan Kudarat to Maguindanao del Norte en route to Davao City aboard a cargo truck.
“We received a tip from concerned citizen about the possible transport of smuggled cigarettes passing through Datu Odin Sinsuat,” Subsuban said in a statement.

Police manning a check point in Barangay Kenebeka, Datu Odin Sinsuat, flagged down the van at about 3 p.m.
Police found out it contained 133 boxes of imported cigarettes with an estimated value of P5,054,000
Police identified the two arrested suspects as driver Ryan Gabriel and helper Roy Borja, both from Toril, Davao City.
Police are set to turn over the cigarettes to the Bureau of Customs.
