Mets vs. Braves Game 1 odds swing was a roller coaster

The Major League Baseball playoffs got off to an early start Monday, as the New York Mets and Atlanta Braves squared off in the first game of a doubleheader Monday that was technically a part of the regular season.

However, with the postseason hopes of both teams hinging on a win, it had the feel of playoff baseball and came with all the dramatics too.

Here’s a recap:

After seven innings, the Braves held a 3-0 lead and appeared on their way to getting that preferred Game 1 win to clinch a playoff berth. The Mets struck with six runs in the eighth to take a 6-3 lead. Atlanta immediately responded with four runs of their own for a 7-6 lead. But just as the familiar feeling of Mets misery was setting in, Francisco Lindor hit a two-run homer in the ninth to put New York up for good.

The movement of live betting odds during that two-inning period was bananas.

Atlanta’s moneyline went from +550 to -2500 to +425 between the bottom of the eighth and the bottom of the ninth, according to Covers.

Before giving up their lead, the Braves were -1950 at the start of the eighth at DraftKings. Before the inning was over, they were +1100.

The Mets saw their odds to win rise to +830 at FanDuel after relinquishing the lead in the bottom of the eighth.

A Lindor home run later, they were back down to -600.

Here’s what the win probability chart looked like at the end.
