The Major League Baseball playoffs got off to an early start Monday, as the New York Mets and Atlanta Braves squared off in the first game of a doubleheader Monday that was technically a part of the regular season.
However, with the postseason hopes of both teams hinging on a win, it had the feel of playoff baseball and came with all the dramatics too.
Here’s a recap:
After seven innings, the Braves held a 3-0 lead and appeared on their way to getting that preferred Game 1 win to clinch a playoff berth. The Mets struck with six runs in the eighth to take a 6-3 lead. Atlanta immediately responded with four runs of their own for a 7-6 lead. But just as the familiar feeling of Mets misery was setting in, Francisco Lindor hit a two-run homer in the ninth to put New York up for good.
The movement of live betting odds during that two-inning period was bananas.
