No-hitters aren’t something you expect to see everyday. So you definitely don’t expect to be able to predict when they might occur.
But MLB Network’s Greg Amsinger thought he was special.
Without seeing a single pitch of Tuesday’s game between the Miami Marlins and Los Angeles Dodgers, Amsinger called for a no-hitter alert, predicting Miami would struggle with righty Yoshinobu Yamamoto.
That backfired immediately.

Not only did Yamamoto give up a lead-off home run to Jazz Chisholm, it happened on his very first pitch of the game. The no-no never stood a chance.

To Amsinger’s credit, he wasn’t completely off about how much the Marlins would struggle against Yamamoto. They only managed five hits in an 8-2 loss. And Yamamoto lasted eight innings to improve to 4-1 this season with a 2.79 ERA.
But this is still the bigs, and even the worst teams are incredibly hard to hold hitless.
