My horses to watch on Day 3 at Cheltenham

The trainer and Betway ambassador gives his thoughts on four of the races on the second day of the 2025 Cheltenham Festival.

13:20 Mares’ Novices Hurdle

Sixandahalf 11/4 is the one I’d love to have if you gave me the chance. She slammed a field last time and had experience from her time on the flat, too. That could count for plenty and I wouldn’t want to be taking her on.

14:00 Jack Richards Novices’ Handicap Chase

Dee Capo 25/1 caught my eye on two occasions this year and on both times he didn’t win, so perhaps it could be third time lucky! He’s only six and is improving and is going the right way.

14:40 Pertemps Final

I was taken with Win Some Lose Some 13/2 when he won the Pertemps qualifier at Christmas and the fact we’ve not seen him since would tell you they had this as a target, despite being higher in the handicap than he probably deserves on what he has achieved. If the rain falls, Feet Of A Dancer 8/1 would come into the equation. She’s very talented on her day.

15:20 Ryanair Chase & 16:00 Stayers’ Hurdle

I think the next two races are punters’ races with both Fact To File 5/4 and Teahupoo 6/4 both looking like they’ll be very tough to beat. I wouldn’t want to oppose them, that’s for sure.

16:40 TrustATrader Plate

I’ve got to give a big mention to Joseph O’Brien’s horse, Jordans 17/2 , who could have run in the Arkle but runs here. His form is strong and he’s gone under the radar slightly. I really think he could be much better than what we’ve seen and could be bang there.

17:20 Kim Muir Challenge Cup

Katie and I nearly bought Git Maker 14/1 a few years back, and this year he looks like he’s been trained for this. He’s caught my eye and i’d love to see him win, and it’s a great move to get Will Biddick on board.
