247Sports national scouting analyst Greg Biggins provides a closer look at the No. 1 tight end in the recently released initial Top 100 for the 2027 cycle:
“Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei sophomore tight end Mark Bowman had a huge offseason, so it wasn’t too surprising to see him rewarded with a top-10 initial ranking when the 247Sports Top 100 released last week. Bowman checked in as the No. 5 prospect in the country, and it’s one of the highest grades ever given to a tight end. Bowman is a special talent, though, and has drawn comparisons to former Georgia tight end and recent Las Vegas Raiders first-round pick Brock Bowers. Whereas Bowers was a late bloomer and really didn’t come in to his own until the summer before his senior year, Bowman has been a known commodity since he arrived at Mater Dei before his freshman year.
“It’s really hard to find a discernible weakness when looking at Bowman’s profile. He has an athletic 6-foot-4, 215-pound frame, runs like a receiver, is an advanced route runner, has strong hands, consistently wins jump balls, runs well after the catch and is a willing blocker. The Monarchs have a loaded receiver room, so Bowman likely won’t put up super gaudy numbers this season, but his upside is off the charts and there’s a reason he already holds scholarship offers from heavyweight programs all over the country including Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State and Texas.”
