Who’s the worst owner in the NFL? That depends on who you ask, but New York Jets players may have an especially opinionated answer after getting to know Woody Johnson.

Johnson has earned widespread criticism, particularly in the last few seasons, but now we have some consensus intel from inside the Jets’ locker room thanks to the latest NFLPA report cards. Let’s just say, the Jets didn’t earn high marks.

The NFL Player’s Association has been conducting a poll, asking players to grade their team from everything to how their families are handled to the quality of team facilities, and even how team ownership is performing.

This survey presented players, including the New York Jets, with the perfect opportunity to anonymously voice their opinion in a way that would be heard by the entire industry. Make no mistake, Jets players let their opinion known, in a very loud way.

The 2025 NFLPA report card revealed Jets owner Woody Johnson as the worst owner in the NFL. Not only was he ranked 31st (Green Bay Packers don’t have an owner), Johnson was the only owner to earn an F grade from their players.

“Owner Woody Johnson’s average rating for perceived willingness to invest in the facilities is 5.58 out of 10 from Jets players, a ranking of 32 out of 32 owners in the league.

The players feel that Johnson does not contribute to a positive team culture, a rank of 32 out of 32.

The players feel that Johnson is somewhat committed to building a competitive team, a rank of 31 of the 32 NFL owners.”

Funnily enough, Jets players graded Robert Saleh as a B when it came to head coach grades, yet Johnson couldn’t wait to part ways with the now San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator after a 2-3 start in 2024.

The Jets ranked 29th out of 32 teams overall, which was a drop from 21st in last season’s NFLPA report card.

While the Jets’ locker room also earned a D+ grade, their strength coaches earned a B, while their nutritionist/dietician earned the highest grade on the team, with a B+.

The Jets have plenty of work to do to upgrade the roster, but this report card indicates there are several other ways the team could improve too. Yet, how do you upgrade the owner?
