Novak Djokovic is still one of the best tennis players in the world at 37 years old. However, the 24-time Grand Slam winner has been up and down to start 2025, and has battled injuries as well.
But Djokovic is rolling through the ATP Miami Open, and he’ll head to the quarterfinals after beating Lorenzo Muselli in straight sets.
Djokovic Handles Muselli, Will Meet Korda in Quarterfinals
Djokovic, who is seeded fourth at the Miami Open, needed just an hour and 23 minutes to clobber the 15th-seeded Muselli, 6-2, 6-2.
Djokovic did it in front of Serena Williams and Juan Martin del Potro in the stands. Muselli tried his best, but it was the “Joker” who was by far the better player on the day. He won 75% of his 1st-serve points, and 49% of 1st-serve return points. Djokovic was also 10-of-11 on net points, and even though he had 17 unforced errors, Muselli had 19.
Djokovic will now go on to face 24th-seeded American Sebastian Korda, who required three sets to beat Frenchman Gael Monfils. The two have met just once, with the Serbian beating Korda 6-7 (8), 7-6 (3), 6-4 at an event in Adelaide, Australia, in January 2023. Djokovic is favored, and will be popular among the top tennis predictions for their match on Wednesday night.
Can Novak Djokovic Win a Grand Slam in 2025?
Djokovic has yet to win a tournament in 2025, and had to retire in the Australian Open semifinals against Alexander Zverev due to a leg injury. He lost to Matteo Berrettini in straight sets in the round of 32 in Doha, Qatar. Djokovic then lost to Botic van de Zandeschulp in three sets in the round of 64 at Indian Wells. It has been a difficult start to the year for Djokovic, who has slipped to fifth in the ATP Rankings.
