Ohio State lands local four-star recruit Dorian Jones

Class of 2025 shooting guard Dorian Jones is staying home to play for Jake Diebler and the Ohio State Buckeyes, a source tells 247Sports. Jones is the No. 60 overall recruit in the 2025 class and the No. 13 ranked shooting guard

A 6-foot-4 prospect out of Cleveland (Ohio) Richmond Heights, Jones chose Ohio State over Rutgers, Michigan and Missouri.

“(Ohio State) was the first program to start recruiting me when I was a freshman,” Jones told 247Sports. “They have been there since day one. They talk about building their program around me.”

Jones is the first commitment for the Buckeyes in the class of 2025. It’s a big one for Diebler who continues to prove that Ohio State is a threat in the region and around the country for the top recruits.

“I know a couple of guys that go there. I played travel basketball with Devin Royal during my freshman year and I am pretty close with him,” Jones said about the Ohio State basketball program. “That is a plus. Jake Diebler is the head coach that recruited me since I was a freshman so that is also a plus.”

Jones, an Ohio native, is an intriguing long-term prospect with great length and eye-popping athleticism that has shown some real microwave scoring ability thanks to his jumpshot.

Jones can continue to improve his consistency as a shooter and efficiency as a scorer but that should naturally improve with a better shot selection and with more reps and added strength.

At this stage, Jones is still a very thin high school recruit and will continue to physically mature and develop when he gets on Ohio State’s campus.

With Jones now on board, the Buckeyes look to steamroll ahead on the recruiting front. They have their sights on a big recruiting class in 2025 that includes the pursuit of Darryn Peterson, Niko Bundalo, Eric Reibe, Malachi Moreno and Isaiah Denis.

There is lots of opportunity left on the board for Ohio State in the 2025 cycle and more could come as the month of July unfolds and live periods hit their peak.
