Leading their best-of-seven second-round series two games to one, the Dallas Mavericks (56-35, 28-17 home, 53-38 ATS) can put the Oklahoma City Thunder (62-27,  26-18 away, 50-38- 1 ATS) on the brink of elimination in Game 4 tonight when they host OKC at American Airlines Center at 8:40 pm CT/9:40 pm ET.

Coming off a thrilling 105-101 win on Saturday, Dallas is a slim 1.5-point home favorite in the Thunder vs Mavericks Game 4 odds.

After taking its first lead of the series, Dallas improved to -200 to advance in the NBA playoff bracket. The Thunder are now +165 to reach the Western Conference finals, where they would meet either the Denver Nuggets or Minnesota Timberwolves, who are tied at two games apiece heading back to Denver for Game 5.

OKC vs DAL Game 4 Injury Reports

The injury reports for Game 4 show Dallas superstar Luka Doncic listed as questionable with a knee injury. Forward Maxi Kleber, one of the team’s best outside threats, remains out with a shoulder injury.

On the OKC side, G-Leaguer Olivier Sarr remains the only player on the Thunder injury report.

Kyrie the Closer in Game 3

While he only finished with 22 points on the night, Kyrie Irving put in a vintage performance in Saturday’s 105-101 win. Irving went 10-of-17 from the floor and dished out a game-high seven assists. Another absurd left-handed floater late in the fourth quarter was arguably the dagger in OKC’s comeback chances.

Dallas also got a clutch 27-point performance from PJ Washington, which followed on the heels of a team-high 29-point outing in Dallas’ 119-110 Game 2 victory in OKC. Washington averaged just 12.9 PPG in the regular season and didn’t hit the 20-point plateau at all in his first seven playoff games.

Washington’s rise has been crucial with Luka Doncic slightly laboring under a knee injury. Doncic, who led the league in scoring during the regular season at 33.9 PPG, has dipped to 27.7 PPG in the playoffs, while his assist number has dropped from 9.8 APG to 8.7, despite averaging just over 41 minutes per night (compared to 37.5 MPG in the regular season).

On the Thunder side, poor three-point shooting has been the team’s undoing. OKC is just 20-of-60 from beyond the arc in the last two games (33.3%) while Dallas is 29-of-70 (41.4%). OKC has also lost the rebounding battle in back-to-back games (44-41 in Game 2 and 48-41 in Game 3).

The Thunder/Mavericks NBA player props come from DraftKings on May 13.

For the first time this series, Doncic’s total has dropped below 30 points (28.5). Doncic is averaging just 23.3 PPG against the Thunder and, as mentioned, is listed as questionable with a knee injury. He’s played at least 40 minutes in each of the first three games of the series.

SGA has the highest point total of the game at 30.5. Gilgeous-Alexander has led the Thunder in scoring in all seven postseason games to date, and has averaged 31 PPG against the Mavs.

OKC Thunder vs Dallas Mavericks Predictions

The PJ Washington surge is as unexpected as it is unsustainable. It’s also highly unlikely that the Mavericks continue to get the better of the battle behind the three-point line. OKC shot an NBA-best 38.9% from three in the regular season and, even after two subpar showings in the last two games, still lead the postseason at 38.4%. Dallas, on the other hand, was just 13th in the league in 3P% in the regular season (36.9%) and is connecting at 35.3% in the playoffs.

OKC is also healthier heading into Game 4. One of the best bounce-back teams all year, OKC lost three straight games just once in 82 games. I expect the top-seeded Thunder to even the series tonight and will happily bet them at plus-money.

Thunder vs Mavericks picks:

  • Thunder moneyline (+105)
  • Doncic under 28.5 points (+102)
