The New England Patriots went into this offseason with a ton of salary cap space and used a lot of it to take care of their own players by giving contract extensions to key contributors on both sides of the ball.
The work isn’t done as the front office is still exploring ways to add depth before the 2024 season starts, and the team reportedly is planning on signing a free-agent offensive lineman.
ESPN’s Mike Reiss shared on X that the Pats are bringing in Kellen Diesch for a workout and are expected to sign him to a deal.
The Patriots are planning to address OL depth, as they are bringing in Kellen Diesch and expected to sign him, per sources.
Diesch (6-7, 300) played at Texas A&M/Arizona State.

Diesch entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Miami Dolphins in 2022 and has spent time with the Chicago Bears, Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns practice squads since then.
The Browns claimed him on waivers earlier this offseason but eventually released him due to a failed physical designation.
He is 6-foot-7 and 300 pounds and played his college ball at Texas A&M and Arizona State.
Diesch would put the Pats roster at 91 players and he’d add depth to an offensive tackle group behind the top four of Mike Onwenu, Chukwuma Okorafor, Caedan Wallace and Vederian Lowe.
The 26-year-old has a strong athletic profile and is an interesting addition at this point of training camp, and it’s possible the Patriots placed added importance on the position after tackle Tyrone Wheatley Jr. didn’t participate in a recent practice, possibly due to injury.
