There are only a couple of head coaching vacancies in the NBA at the moment after most teams moved quickly to secure their guys, but Paul Pierce is not a fan of one of the vacancies.
Pierce may be slightly biased in his assessment of this coaching job, but he does make a valid point.
Pierce went on “Undisputed” today and said that the Los Angeles Lakers head coaching job isn’t attractive, noting: “It’s not good to be rebuilding in LA. If you’re interested in that, okay then.”

Pierce added, “I don’t see this as a long-term job,” and said that if and when LeBron James leaves in a year or two, he could see the team trading Anthony Davis and ushering in a full rebuild.
His inner Celtic came out during this segment, but it’s a valid concern for anyone taking this job, as it doesn’t seem like there is a clear path to success at the moment given James’ age and all the politics involved with coaching this team.
The Lakers have been taking their time hiring their next coach.
Frank Vogel won a title for this Lakers team in 2020 and he was still fired two years later, and Darvin Ham just got fired the year after leading the team from the play-in to the Conference Finals.
The clock is ticking on LeBron, and it’s championship or bust, but the problem is that this team isn’t even close to a title and it keeps making the coach the fall guy.
