The Philadelphia Phillies (58-30) and Atlanta Braves (47-39) play the second game of a three-game series on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Truist Park in Atlanta, GA. First pitch is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. ET and the game will be televised on FOX.

The Braves are slight favorites with a moneyline of -112, while the Phillies are slight underdogs at -108. The run line is set at Phillies -1.5 (+155) and Braves +1.5 (-190), with the over/under at 8.5 runs.

We’ve made our Phillies vs Braves prediction and provided MLB player props to wager on.

Phillies vs Braves Prediction

In the series opener on Friday, the Phillies emerged victorious with an 8-6 win, extending their lead over the Braves in the NL East to 10 games. Trea Turner had a remarkable performance, going 2-for-4 with two home runs and four RBIs.

Aaron Nola earned his 10th win of the season, allowing three earned runs while striking out eight in six innings. Despite the loss, the Braves showed offensive power with homeruns from Ozzie Albies, Marcell Ozuna, and Austin Riley.

Looking ahead to Saturday’s matchup, the Phillies will send left-hander Ranger Suarez (10-2, 2.27 ERA) to the mound, while the Braves will counter with rookie right-hander Spencer Schwellenbach (1-4, 5.68 ERA).

Suarez will aim to bounce back from his worst start of the season against the Miami Marlins, where he allowed six runs on 10 hits and two walks in 4 2/3 innings without registering a strikeout. Despite this setback, Suarez has been one of the best pitchers in the National League this season and will look to regain his form against the Braves.

10-2 Record 1-4
2.27 ERA 5.68
0.99 WHIP 1.30
8.7 K/9 9.1
103 2/3 IP 31 2/3

Schwellenbach, on the other hand, has been the most effective pitcher for the Braves in the fifth spot of their rotation since Spencer Strider’s early-season injury. He has pitched at least five innings in five of his six starts and will be making his first career appearance against the Phillies.

Given the Phillies’ momentum and the dominant season Ranger Suarez has had thus far, we like the Phillies in this spot. Rob Thomson’s team hold a huge edge in the pitching matchup, and their offense, led by Turner, should do some serious damage at the plate.

  • Pick: Philadelphia Phillies -1.5 (+155)

Phillies vs Braves Odds

Team Spread Moneyline Total
Phillies -1.5 (+155) -105 Over 8.5 (+100)
Braves +1.5 (-190) -120 Under 8.5 (-115)

The Braves are slight favorites in this matchup with a moneyline of -112, implying a 51% probability of winning the game. Conversely, the Braves are slight underdogs at -105, suggesting a 47.2% chance of victory.

Despite being the way team, Philadelphia’s negative Saturday MLB odds reflect the team’s overall success this season and their 10-game lead over the Braves in the NL East. Philadelphia is +400 in the World Series odds, while Atlanta is more of a longshot at +900.

The run line is set at Phillies -1.5 (+155) and Braves +1.5 (-182). This means that if you bet on the Phillies, they must win by more than 1.5 runs for your bet to pay out, while a bet on the Braves would require them to either win outright or lose by less than 1.5 runs.

Recent trends also support the Phillies, as they have won four of their last five games, while the Braves have lost four of their last five, all of which have been at home.

The over/under is set at 8.5 runs, with the under slightly favored at -120 and the over at -105. The over has cashed in four straight games between these two clubs, including Friday night’s clash in Atlanta.

Phillies vs Braves Player Props

There are no shortage of MLB player props available for this Phillies vs Braves showdown. Here are a few of the player prop bets we are targeting:

Austin Riley (Braves) Over 1.5 H+R+RBI (-125):

Riley has been on a hot streak, hitting .364 with five extra-base hits, including two home runs, in 26 plate appearances against Ranger Suarez. Expect him to continue his success in this matchup.

Marcell Ozuna (Braves) Over 0.5 Strikeouts (-110):

Ozuna has struggled against Suarez, going 3-for-18 with five strikeouts in his career. He has also struck out in 14 of his last 40 plate appearances, making this a solid prop bet.

Trea Turner (Phillies) Over 1.5 Total Bases (-120):

Turner has been on a tear during the Phillies’ current road trip, going 8-for-18 (.444) with four home runs, seven runs, and eight RBIs in four games. Look for him to continue his hot streak against the Braves.

Phillies vs Braves Injury Report

The Braves have a few players on the injury report:

  • Evan White (hip): Day-to-day
  • Angel Perdomo (elbow): 15-day IL
  • Ian Anderson (elbow): Out
  • Sean Murphy (oblique): 10-day IL

The absence of Sean Murphy, the Braves’ primary catcher, could impact the team’s defensive performance and game management.

The Phillies also have several players dealing with injuries:

  • Taijuan Walker (shoulder): 15-day IL
  • Orion Kerkering (forearm): 15-day IL
  • Michael Rucker (hand): 15-day IL
  • Michael Lorenzen (neck): 15-day IL
  • Erich Uelmen (forearm): Out
  • Weston Wilson (hand): Day-to-day
  • Dylan Covey (shoulder): 15-day IL
  • Rafael Marchan (back): 10-day IL

While the Phillies have more players on the injury report, most of them are pitchers, which may not have a significant impact on Saturday’s game. However, the absence of backup catcher Rafael Marchan could affect the team’s depth and flexibility.
