Tom McGarry’s selections for Saturday’s top-flight games include a win for Fulham and plenty of goals at Selhurst Park.
The Premier League action comes thick and fast on Saturday afternoon with seven fixtures for punters to get stuck into, headlined by the 17.30 clash between Aston Villa and Arsenal.
That contest, plus three 15.00 matches, forms part of our Saturday Premier League fourfold, which pays out at 10/1.
Best bets
Over 2.5 goals in Crystal Palace v West Ham @ 31/40
Fulham to beat Leicester @ 5/6
Both teams to score in Tottenham v Everton @ 7/10
Aston Villa or draw double chance v Arsenal @ 1/1
Fourfold pays 10/1
Crystal Palace v West Ham (15.00)
Both Crystal Palace and West Ham began the season on the wrong end of 2-1 scorelines and will be out to make amends in this London derby clash at Selhurst Park.
New West Ham gaffer Julen Lopetegui opted to leave summer signings Niclas Fullkrug and Crysencio Summerville on the bench at Villa last weekend but he could turn to them in a bid to tip this contest in the Hammers’ favour.
Palace’s final five home matches of the 2023-24 season averaged 4.8 goals, including a 5-2 win over Saturday’s opponents, and both teams have enough attacking quality to take this over the 2.5-goal mark.
Fulham v Leicester (15.00)
Fulham failed to find the net against Manchester United in Friday’s curtain raiser but the Whites look a decent bet to see off newly promoted Leicester.
Marco Silva’s men faltered in the second half of last season but they still produced some bright home performances from February onwards, beating Bournemouth 3-1, Brighton 3-0 and Tottenham 3-0 at Craven Cottage.
Leicester performed with credit in their opening draw against Spurs but they lost their final four away matches of last season and may be vulnerable in west London.
Tottenham v Everton (15.00)
Tottenham won 13 of 19 Premier League home matches last season but Ange Postecoglou’s men look on the short side when Everton visit north London on Saturday.
A better bet could be both teams to score, which landed on 16 occasions at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League last season and copped again in Spurs’ season opener against Leicester.
The Lilywhites have plenty of attacking quality but they could struggle to cope with Everton’s direct approach at the other end. The Toffees should be keen to bounce back from their 3-0 home loss against Brighton.
Aston Villa v Arsenal (17.30)
The game of the weekend comes from Villa Park where title hopefuls Arsenal could struggle to defeat hosts Aston Villa, who impressed with a matchday one win over West Ham.
The Villans turned their home into a fortress last season, claiming 12 league victories and four draws on their way to a top-four finish, and Unai Emery relished the two meetings with his old club, winning home and away.
Arsenal eased past Wolves last Saturday but a trip to Villa represents a tougher test for Mikel Arteta’s Gunners.
