Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams light up Paris Olympics opening ceremony

A lot of tennis in the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics, thinking of Coco Gauff, the USA flag bearer, with LeBron James, Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams who carried the Olympic flame towards the last torchbearers.

Former soccer superstar Zinedine Zidane passed the Olympic torch to Rafael Nadal, who won Roland Garros 14 times in Paris and wrote the most important pages of his amazing career in Paris.

Nadal then passed the torch to another tennis legend, Serena Williams, on a boat that also hosted two other athletes whose names need no further introduction, as they are Nadia Comaneci and Carl Lewis.

A truly dream group of athletes. Then came the torch in the name of tennis, as it passed into the hands of former Australian Open and Wimbledon champion and current Roland Garros director Amelie Mauresmo.

The competitions start today: as far as tennis is concerned, they start at 12 with a decidedly very intense program that sees Novak Djokovic, the doubles team formed by Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal, Naomi Osaka and Iga Swiatek on the court already on the first day.

A decidedly unprecedented Olympic opening ceremony with a parade of delegations from the participating nations along the Seine with around a hundred Heads of State present. The opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics, which opened with the boat of Greece, founder of the Games, saw in its initial phase the show by Lady Gaga, who welcomed everyone present to Paris. French President Emmanuel Macron has officially declared the Olympic Games open and the first medals will be awarded from today.
