Raygun the Australian breakdancer endured so much in 2024 after her viral Paris Olympics performance despite gaining so many fans in the process, from parodies on the Tonight Show to the hate she received.
So maybe it’s no surprise that she announced her retirement from the sport.
“I’m not going to compete anymore, no,” Rachel Gunn told 2DayFM, via ESPN. “I was going to keep competing, for sure, but that seems really difficult for me to do now to approach a battle. Yeah, I mean I still dance, and I still break. But, you know, that’s like in my living room with my partner. It’s been really upsetting. I just didn’t have any control over how people saw me or who I was.”
But Gunn wanted to make it clear in another appearance that she will still dance in “community jams,” but as for elite competitions, she’s done, which is really sad.
