Columbus, GA – The Columbus River Dragons slung fire at the Mississippi Sea Wolves as 3,150 fans looked on.
Alexander “Jammer” Jmaeff pushed Columbus to an early 2-0 lead, on assists from Justin Macdonald and Brian Dunford at :22 and an assist from Kyle Moore at 9:22. At the end of the first frame of play, the Columbus River Dragons put 13 shots on goal, compared to the Sea Wolves’ 6.
At the start of the second period, the River Dragons played a bit more defensively, keeping the Sea Wolves to only 7 shots on goal, while scoring an additional two goals against Trevor Roy in the net for the Sea Wolves.
Jordan Popoff found the back of the net, with assistance by Nolan Slachetka and Alex Storjahann at 1:50. Connor Lind also buried one at 19:00 with the help of Jestin Somero and Cody Wickline. At the end of the second period, Columbus lead Mississippi 4-0.
The Mississippi Sea Wolves showed a lot of fatigue in the third period, and allowed the River Dragons their fifth goal of the night. At :33, Steven Klinck drilled the final goal of the night to secure the River Dragons 5-0 victory over the Sea Wolves.
Tonight’s 3 Stars of the Game were Sammy Bernard with 22 saves and zero goals allowed, Alexander Jmaeff with two goals, and Connor Lind with one goal.
The River Dragons will play against the Sea Wolves again tonight in Columbus, defending their 3-game win streak.
