Rome Odunze is just walking his first steps in the National Football League.

However, even if his career doesn’t turn out to be good — which we hope isn’t the case — he’s already secured himself more than enough money to get by for good.

That’s why he’s an authorized voice to try and inspire younger players also trying to make a name for themselves.

Considering that, the Washington product reached out to a couple of young players to give them a piece of advice.

He quoted Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant, who once claimed that he never took a shot in a game that he hadn’t taken a thousand times in practice (via Ari Meirov).

Odunze also stated that one should never catch a pass in a game that he hadn’t caught a thousand times in practice or run a route that he hadn’t run a thousand times in practice and so forth.

Kobe Bryant’s influence as one of the greatest motivators of all time transcended the sports world, and it shows.

Never had an athlete been so inspirational, and it’s such a tragedy that he’s no longer with us to watch this.

Odunze is expected to be one of the best wide receivers in the game a couple of years from now.

He’s strong and physical and often overpowers his opposition.

But more than that, he clearly has the determination and work ethic to be prepared for everything that could come across him on the field, and that often helps good players become great.
