Rune Advances at Paris Masters; Shnaider Wins in Hong Kong
Tuesday’s action at the Rolex Paris Masters featured former champion Holger Rune reaching the second round, defeating Matteo Arnaldi 6-4, 6-4.
Needing one hour and 30 minutes to advance, Rune struck seven aces, won 71 percent of his first serve points, broke serve on two occasions and hit 21 winners in total.
Rune, who is the 13th seed this week, will next face Alexander Bublik for a place in the third round.
Other winners on the day included No. 9 seed Alex de Minuar, Francisco Cerundolo, Alex Michelsen, Jan-Lennard Struff, Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, Zizou Bergs, Arthur Fils, Karen Khachanov and Alexei Popyrin.
No. 2 seed Carlos Alcaraz will be in action later today against Nicolas Jarry. Top seed Jannik Sinner withdrew from the event with a virus earlier in the day.

Hong Kong Tennis Open—China
Top seed Diana Shnaider advanced to the second round of the Hong Kong Tennis Open on Tuesday, dismissing Kyoka Okamura 6-3, 6-3.
Shnaider, who is currently ranked No. 14 in the world, will next face Priscilla Hon in round two.
Other winners on the day included No. 2 seed Katie Boulter, No. 3 seed Leylah Fernandez, No. 7 seed Varvara Gracheva, and No. 8 seed Cristina Bucsa.
The top two seeds will be back in action on Wednesday.
