Boxing star Ryan Garcia has denied taking performance-enhancing drugs in response to yesterday’s news of his two positive tests for the banned PED Ostarine. The rest results were conducted for Garcia’s fight on April 20th against Devin Haney.
Garcia says his tests with VADA were negative for the following dates: 2/26, 3/8, 3/15, and 4/3. Suddenly, he tests positive for the 4/19 and 4/20 tests.
He seems something fishy going on with the testing. It doesn’t make sense for Ryan’s tests to be negative in all four tests, and then suddenly come up positive on fight date. If Ryan was going to be using PEDs, he wouldn’t wait until the day of the fight to use them.
Fans on social media believe it’s a conspiracy to bring Ryan down after him beating a popular fighter Haney, who is promoted by Eddie Hearn. Haney was involved in a controversial win last year against Vasily Lomachenko in which he appeared to lose,, but was given a win.
Ryan defeated unbeaten WBC light welterweight champion Haney by a 12-round majority decision in their headliner last month on DAZN PPV.
The victory has been partially tainted by the reports of Ryan’s positive PED tests for Ostarine, and another substance 19-norandrosterone. That one still hasn’t been confirmed.
Garcia Raises Suspicions
“My levels are so low for someone who took Ostarine. I was posting throughout training and non of my test came out positive. All of a sudden I’m positive? We know what it is,” said Ryan Garcia on X, talking about his suspicious positive test for a PED.
“They make false claims and try to ban me from boxing or put me in jail. Crazy.”
Ryan’s B-sample test will likely be examined to confirm the initial test results. If it’s positive as well, he could receive a suspension.
Fans on social media believe Ryan was brought down for the following reasons:
- Backed Donald Trump
- Winning $12 million of the house’s money on a $2M bet
- Beat a popular, well-connected fighter
If Ryan can prove his innocence, he’ll move on likely fight Gervonta Davis next in a mega-fight. But Haney is the one that is in bad shape here because regardless of how this plays out, he’s not going to be able to shake the image of him getting badly hurt by Ryan, dropped three times, and needing to be saved by referee Harvey Dock.
