TCU vs. SMU will kick off at 4:00 p.m. CT on Saturday, September 21st, according to a release from TCU football on Wednesday.
TCU Football is looking to bounce back from last season when the team went 5-7 and missed a bowl game. After an undefeated regular season in 2022 and a College Football Playoff semifinal win over Michigan — the first in Big 12 history — the Horned Frogs are picking up the pieces in an attempt to, at minimum, get back to a bowl game.
The biggest move of the offseason was seismic from a TCU perspective. Dykes hired former Boise State coach Andy Avalos to be his defensive coordinator and he pitched the Horned Frogs’ 3-3-5 defense for a 4-2-5 defense.
The Horned Frogs have won the last two meetings over SMU, including last season’s 34-17 victory.
TCU leads the all-time series over SMU 53-42-7. TCU has won nine of the last 11 meetings dating back to 2012, with the two teams not meeting during the COVID-shortened season of 2020.
TCU opens the 2024 college football season on the road against Stanford on Friday night, August 30th, with a 9:00PM CT kick off.
