After Deshaun Watson left the team, the Houston Texans seemed to lack an identity.
Watson brought them to the playoffs during his tenure, and he provided consistency and MVP-caliber play at the quarterback position.
Losing him seemed like it could set the franchise back for the foreseeable future, but thankfully, they lucked out in the 2023 NFL Draft.
C.J. Stroud turned out to be as good, if not better than advertised, helping bring the Texans back to the playoffs.
Stroud, by many metrics, proved that he is a great NFL quarterback, and will hopefully be under center for this team for the foreseeable future.
He’s the type of player who has gained instant notoriety in the league, already causing veteran players to pave a path to play on his team.
This was made evident by the Stefon Diggs trade, a move that brings the Texans’ playoff hopes and expectations even higher.
Diggs has had an opportunity to work with Stroud at training camp, and early indications are looking good for this team.
According to OC Bobby Slowik in the Green Light podcast via the Houston Stressans on Twitter, when talking about Diggs, he said, “He’s cut from the same vein as quarterbacks. Elite competitor,” later adding, “He’s fit in. He’s one of us.”

Diggs has had a fair share of locker-room troubles in recent years, finding himself in tough situations with the Minnesota Vikings and Buffalo Bills.
He has remained strong on the field, however, and if he and Stroud connect like many anticipate, this could end up being one of the best offenses in the league in 2024.
