Texas Forward Dillon Mitchell Transfers to Cincinnati

Wes Miller and the Cincinnati Bearcats made a splash addition through the transfer portal on Friday with the commitment of former Texas forward Dillon Mitchell.

Mitchell, a former five-star from Florida, has generated some serious NBA buzz since his career after spending the previous two seasons with the Longhorns.

Mitchell posted some impressive numbers as a sophomore last season in Austin, averaging 9.6 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game. He connected on 58.5% of shots from the field, which helped him earn the title of one of the league’s most efficient scorers.

Coming out of Montverde Academy in the Class of 2022, Mitchell was listed as a five-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s fifth-ranked player. He also checked in as the second-ranked player at his position and the second-ranked player in the state of Florida.

With his commitment, Mitchell became the third addition for Cincinnati through the transfer portal, joining a pair of four-star transfers, Bradley’s Connor Hickman and USC’s Arrinten page.

Prior to the addition, the Bearcats checked in at the No. 26 spot in Jon Rothstein’s preseason Top 45, and with the addition of Mitchell, Cincinnati should climb even higher and earn a preseason Top 25 rank.
