‘The kids can see how their mum was at the time’

Roger Federer retired from professional tennis in the 2022 edition of the Laver Cup, a legend of the game that remains in force and linked to the discipline in which he made history, becoming one of the greatest and an example for the new generations of the racket sport.

In a recent campaign of the renowned brand Louis Vuitton, the Swiss met again with his great rival of the time and friend, Rafael Nadal, to share his thoughts through a series of questions that brought great answers and memories.

The “genius” from Basel answered the Spaniard what he considers to have been the greatest achievement of his sporting career and the advice he would give to the younger Roger who was just starting to play tennis.

“The greatest achievement in sport was to become ATP number 1 and, in general, I am happy with my career. One of the secrets is maybe also a little thing you add to your game.

Even when you’re playing well, there’s always something you can do to improve. What would you tell Roger as a kid? To surround myself with the right people, to choose the best, to inspire and motivate me to reach the top.”

Roger Federer to star in documentary

During an interview, Roger Federer talked about his family: “For the film we just said, ‘Well, let’s capture [Mirka] and she can see how it felt [in that moment]… and then the kids can see how their mum was at the time.

Actually, funny enough, I think when she was doing the interview, I went into the bedroom of the children and I told them that I was officially retiring… in ten days.”
