Tiger Woods-Backed $2.4 Million Venture Unites Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson & Bay Area Legends With Bold Promise

The first thought that comes to mind when one thinks of Stephen Curry is his outrageous 3-point shooting, flashy handles, and four NBA titles with the Golden State Warriors. Throughout his illustrious and era-defining career, Steph’s love for the game has shone through. However, there’s another sport that holds a special place in Steph’s heart besides basketball.

Stephen Curry has been playing golf since he was a 10-year-old. Adding on to his experience, Curry is a very skilled golfer too. He is a scratch golfer, which means that he shoots even par or better. To put that into perspective, only 2% of golfers can say the same. Furthermore, he’s also an avid follower of the sport, and recently, he urged his Bay Area friends (Klay Thompson and Andre Iguodala) to support a new venture, which is backed by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy at a $2.4 million allocation per team.

The TMRW Golf League could have a transformative effect on how people watch and follow golf as a sport. TGL won’t be played on an 18-hole golf course, but a 64-foot by 46 feet simulator developed by Full Swing and a short-game complex featuring three virtual greens and 3,800 square feet of putting space. It’s safe to suggest that most golf fans are apprehensive about the league. But the backing of golfing legends like Tiger Woods and Rory McLlroy have put some fans at ease.

The league will consist of six franchises, all representing major population centers in the US, such as Miami, New York, Los Angeles, the Bay Area, Boston, and Atlanta. Franchise owners will collectively own 18% of the equity, while TMRW will retain 54% and the PGA Tour will hold 18%. The remaining 10% would be held in a ‘Player Pool.’

The tournament will be hosted at the state-of-the-art Sofi Center, at Palm Beach State College in Florida. The stadium features real grass and a 1-of-1 screen, which is 20x bigger than normal simulators. The first season of TGL is set to begin on 7th January, 2025.
