We’ve rounded up some of the top picks from racing experts Katie Walsh and Gary O’Brien to provide handy trebles for Cheltenham day two.

Katie Walsh

Here’s how Katie Walsh’s best bets can form a Cheltenham Day 2 treble.

14:00 Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase: Ballyburn

BALLYBURN 4/6 is the standout. I loved the way he got headed and then battled back to win with a little up his sleeve and I think now the field has cut up, he’s going to be very tough to beat.”

15:20 Cross Country Chase: Vanillier

VANILLIER 6/1 has been given a real chance by the handicapper in the Cross-Country. He bolted up at Punchestown last time and has clearly been trained for this and I think he’s cracking each-way value.”

16:00 Queen Mother Champion Chase: Jonbon

And rounding our Katie Walsh’s top treble tips for Cheltenham day two, we look to the day’s main event – the Champion Chase:

JONBON   10/11 is very short in the Champion Chase but he’s the most likely winner. If he and the first two favourites win, it could be a costly day for the bookmakers! He’s done nothing wrong this year but is very short and wouldn’t give me as much confidence as the other short-priced horses during the week. I do think Marine Nationale won’t be far away though.”

Gary O’Brien

Gary O’Brien’s best bets for Day 2 at Cheltenham Festival can also form a tempting treble.

13:20 Turners Novices’ Hurdle: The Yellow Clay

Gary’s opening pick to add to your Cheltenham day two treble comes in the Turners’ Novices’ Hurdle…

“Day two begins with a fascinating clash between a trio of Grade 1 winners in the Turners Novices Hurdle, and while I have the height of respect for the unbeaten duo who dominate the market THE YELLOW CLAY 11/4 appears to have been underestimated here. The Yeats gelding has progressed with every run since sent hurdling, culminating in a top level breakthrough at Naas in January. Put away for this afterwards, he is a thoroughly likeable type and should be very difficult to keep out of the frame at least.”

14:40 Cross Country Chase: Stumptown

“For me the Cross Country Chase is all about STUMPTOWN 13/5 . Gavin Cromwell’s eight year-old, who boasts a fine course record over regulation fences, has simply been given a new lease of life by the switch to this discipline. He must shoulder top-weight as a result of those exploits but that isn’t a huge worry as the majority of his opponents make very limited appeal. He also has the advantage of being ridden by Keith Donoghue, who has no equal around here and is seeking a fifth win in the race in seven years.”

16.40 Grand Annual Challenge Cup Handicap Chase: Conyers Hill

“Paul Nolan is bringing his strongest team to the festival for a few years in 2025 and his CONYERS HILL 22/1 looks worth chancing off a light weight in the Grand Annual. A strong traveller who will enjoy a decent pace to aim at, Sean O’Keeffe’s mount comes here on a roll after breaking his duck over fences at Down Royal and appeals as still bring nicely handicapped.”
