UCF Misses Out on Four-Star Safety Devin Jackson

Class of 2026 four-star safety Devin Jackson committed to the Florida Gators over UCF, Maryland, and Missouri on Wednesday, per On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

The Florida native is ranked as the No. 323 prospect in his class, as well as the 27th-best safety.

Florida struggled in 2023, finishing 5-7 under head coach Billy Napier, the lowest win total in a season since 2017.

In addition, last season snapped the Gators’ streak of five straight bowl game appearances. They have a tough 2024 schedule that includes matchups with Tennessee, Georgia, LSU, and Texas.

In an interview with GatorsOnline, the rising junior said “They (Florida) show a lot of love when I come up there and I’m wanted up there. I’m up there a lot of times, so I know the facilities too. It feels like home all around.”

On the other hand, UCF just completed its first season competing in the Big 12 Conference, making a bowl game appearance as the team finished with an overall record of 6-7.

The Knights were led by star running back RJ Harvey, who totaled 1,416 yards on the ground, as well as 16 touchdowns. The offensive weapon averaged an impressive 6.3 yards per carry.

Meanwhile, former wide receiver Javon Baker went off for 1,136 yards before being selected by the New England Patriots in the 2024 NFL Draft.
