Craig Smith and the Utah Utes Basketball program added a new name to their roster ahead of the 2024-25 season with the addition of “Mongolian Mike” Sharavjamts.
Sharavjamts, a 6-foot-9 guard from Mongolia, spent the previous two seasons with the San Francisco Dons, where he developed into an impressive player.
Sharavjamts entered the transfer portal on April 10th, and despite having numerous teams interested in his services, the sophomore guard waited until June to announce a decision. Last season at San Francisco, Sharavjamts posted 7.7 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game while connecting on 42.4% of shots from the field and 36.4 from three.
Coming out of Andrews Osborne Academy in the Class of 2022, Sharavjamts was listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 93rd-ranked prospect. He also checked in as the 22nd-ranked player at his position and the top-ranked player in the state of Ohio.
With his commitment, Sharavjamts became the Utes’ seventh addition through the transfer portal this offseason, joining Baylor’s Miro Little, Baylor’s Caleb Lohner, Boston College’s Mason Madsen, East Carolina’s Esra Ausar, Rice’s Keanu Dawes, and Wake Forrest’s Zach Keller.
While Sharavjamts is undoubtedly a nice pickup for Craig Smith and Company, the Utes will still face an uphill battle to compete as members of the Big 12 Conference in 2024-25.
