This past weekend marked the first matchday for Serie A, the first-division soccer league in Italy. Inter Milan enters as the defending champion; last year’s trophy gave the club 20 Scudettos overall.
However, they will have plenty of competition as their main rivals all brought in new managers.
Juventus added Thiago Motta, AC Milan hired Paulo Fonseca, and Napoli inked Antonio Conte, who has also coached Juventus and Inter in the past, to a deal.
Lazio and AS Roma went through significant change, and Fiorentina and Bologna also changed their managers.
Let’s look at each team’s sports betting odds at winning Serie A this season, as well as some thoughts on contenders.

Serie A Odds to Win: Inter Milan
They are the heavy favorites, even though they largely stood pat with the core of their roster.
They did add Piotr Zielinski, the one-time Napoli midfielder, and Mehdi Taremi, who will bring some improvements, but other players in the league might have moved past them in terms of talent.
Serie A Odds to Win: Juventus
The team also signed Khephren Thuram away from Nice and Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz.
Those two changes (as well as the change at manager) make Juventus legitimate title contenders this time around.
AC Milan
“Il Diavolo” already had USMNT star Christian Pulisic, and he will continue to be a face for this franchise.
Striker Alvaro Morata came in to replace Olivier Giroud, who has moved to MLS as a free agent with LAFC.
Morata’s arrival rejuvenates the position and makes the Rossoneri even more dangerous.
Napoli
They had an awful, 2023-24 season, and things can only look up from here. Conte should lead a fast rebuild, and the fact that their disappointing campaign means they won’t be in any continental competitions this season gives them not just motivation but extra time to put a solid season together.
AS Roma
The team brought Artem Dovbyk from Girona and Matias Soule from Frosinone to join the squad.
They are likely to join Pablo Dybala sas the team’s offense goes through the sort of upgrade it needed to push for a top-four finish in Serie A.
Atalanta
The Black and Blues surprised Bayer Leverkusen to win the Europa League last year.
The absence of Gianluca Scamacca, who will miss the whole 2024-25 campaign, will force early adjustments on the roster and could keep them from starting the season as a contender, but their adjustments should right the ship before the end of 2024.
Lazio
The Romans might be on the downturn this year as they sold captain Ciro Immobile, Felipe Anderson and Luis Alberto.
They have their third manager in three seasons, and with that change and the roster turnover, a push for a top-four finish would be a surprise indeed.
Bologna
This team came out of nowhere last year to finish fifth and snag a spot in the Champions League.
However, they sold Riccardo Calafiori to Arsenal and Joshua Zirkzee to Manchester United, without doing much to replace them, so it’s hard to see them catching lightning in a bottle again.
Torino
They either finished ninth or tenth in each of the three seasons that Ivan Juric managed the team.
Now comes Paolo Vanoli, who had coached Venezia, so the rebuild looks like a project that will take at least another season to come to fruition.
Genoa
The Club got promoted back to Serie A last year and put together a credible campaign.
Alberto Gilardino is back as manager after getting some other offers, wanting to grow the program where he got his start in soccer.
Udinese
“Le Zebrette” almost got relegated last season, so change was needed. In comes Kosta Runjaic as the team’s manager, formerly an outsider to Italian soccer. What kind of change will he bring?
