Over the past several months, there have been rumors amongst the West Virginia faithful that the football team would don an all-black uniform combination.
It really got started after the Mountaineers’ men’s and women’s basketball team wore them during the 2023-24 season, and the fan base loved them.
Well, this past weekend, WVU unveiled their new football uniforms for the 2024 season, but to the disappointment of nearly everyone, there was nothing that wasn’t clad in old gold, blue, or white. While a very clean and vintage look at West Virginia’s uniforms, it wasn’t what the people wanted.
Then, on Thursday morning, the Mountaineers’ social media team dropped this little beauty on Twitter.
No more speculation. No more rumors. No more wondering, “what if?”
The “Coal Rush” alternate uniforms appear to be a real thing, and West Virginia football will unveil them tonight at 6:00 p.m. CT.
