Yankees-Dodgers would be a dream World Series, for some

The New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers played one another 11 times in the World Series between 1941 and 1981. No other pair of teams have met more often in MLB’s ultimate tournament.

Although 43 years have elapsed since the two last met in the Fall Classic, the teams might resume their postseason rivalry this year. They are the betting favorites to win their respective pennants. Nothing would please MLB and network executives more than seeing an October clash between the teams representing the two largest media markets in the country.

The Yankees-Dodgers rivalry commenced when both teams called New York home. The Dodgers, affectionately dubbed the “Bums,” venued in Brooklyn, with the “Bronx Bombers” a few miles to the north. Ironically, the legendary, late Dodgers announcer, Vin Scully, was a Bronx native.

The teams’ past postseason meetings delivered many memorable moments.
